International democratic union

The international democratic Union (UDI) is an international organization gathering of the conservative parties, and sometimes Christian-Democrats of the whole world. Its seat is located at London and 45 parties are members or associated.

History

The UDI was founded in 1983 pennies the impulse of leaders of the right-hand side of various countries like Jacques Chirac (RPR), then mayor of Paris, the vice-president of the United States, George Bush (Républicain), of British the Prime Minister, Margaret Thatcher (Conservatrice), and of the German Federal Chancellor Helmut Kohl (CDU). It was a question of creating a forum in which parties sharing the same preserving and democratic values can exchange on a world level. With the fall of the Soviet Block, the IDU considerably extended its establishment towards the Eastern European countries of Europe.
