International Research center on Cancer
The International Center of Research on Cancer ( CIRC ) (in English International Agency for Research one Cancer = IARC ) is an intergovernmental agency belonging to WHO (the World Health Organization) of the the United Nations. Its offices are with Lyon, in France. Its role is to direct and coordinate the investigation into the causes of the Cancer. It also carries out epidemiologic studies on the incidence of the Cancer throughout the world. It publishes a series of Monographie S on the risks Cancérogène S for the man consisted various agents, mixtures and exposures.
Categories of the CIRC
The CIRC classifies the agents, mixtures and exposures in five categories.- Category 1 : Cancerogenic for the man.
- Category 2A : cancerogenic probable for the man.
- Category 2B : cancerogenic possible for the man.
- Category 3 : unclassable as for its cancerogenicity for the man.
- Category 4 : probably noncancerogenic for the man.
