History

Beginnings

Inter Milan at the restaurant known as of Orologio (the Clock) is born on March 9th, 1908, founded by a group of 43 dissidents of the already existing Milanese club, namely the Milan AC, which they reproached for not making play foreign players. The purpose of the name chosen for the new team is thus to symbolize the will of the new club: to give the possibility to the nonItalian players of carrying this shirt. Today, Inter is besides to it one of the Italian clubs with the greatest number of foreign players. The first president of the club is Giovanni Paramithiotti, which is replaced in 1909 by Ettore Strauss and 1910 by Carlo De Medici. It is under the presidency of the latter, only two years after the foundation of the club, that Inter, involved at the time it by Fossati, its first championship of Italy gains, the scudetto . After this first title, it Inter no title gains during four years. For this period, the presidency of the club changes on several occasions: follow one another this station Emilio Hirzel (1912-1913), Luigi Ansbacher (1914) and Giuseppe Visconti Di Modrone (1914-1919). The 1st world war carries to the interruption of the championship 1914-1915 and the cancellation of the successive championships. The Championship of the 1st Italian division takes again its rights as from 1919 and allows Inter gaining the first scudetto of the post-war period, gaining the final against the team of Leghorn: the club is then directed by Francesco Mauro and is pulled by Nino Resegotti.

Inter-war period

Inter name into Ambrosiana then Ambrosiana-Inter had to change on the request of the mode of Benito Mussolini because of the connotation of the international word which was too communist with their taste. But that does not prevent the club belonging to the best Italian clubs and from gaining even its third scudetto in 1930 then to again gain it in 1938 and 1940. In 1942, the club finds its name of origin Inter .

the Large one Inter

After the Second world war, it Inter continuous gaining the championship (1953 and 1954) and enters the most beautiful years of its history where it is called the Large one Inter (the large one Inter). During this period, the club gains three championships (1963, 1965 and 1966) but especially is essential in Coupe of the clubs European champions twice in 1964 (against the Real Madrid of Alfredo Di Stefano) and in 1965 (against the Benfica Lisbon of Eusébio) on San Siro and gains two intercontinental Coupes the same years. Inter account then in its rows some of the best players of the world: Luís Suárez, Alessandro Mazzola or Giacinto Facchetti. The president of the time Angelo Moratti (father of Massimo Moratti) does not hesitate to offer, in vain, of important money sums with an aim of recruiting Pelé or Eusébio, both receptive but the totalitarian policies of the Brésil and the Portugal prevents any transaction. This gilded period finishes in 1967 after a new final of Coupe of the clubs European champions, lost, against the Celtic FC.

Of 1970 to today

After the decade of dream, Inter gains it in 1971 its onziene Scudetto and its twelfth in 1980 and knows a new final of Coupe of the clubs European champions in 1972, lost against the club which dominates football then: the Ajax Amsterdam of Johan Cruyff. Beside that, it Inter two victories in Coupe of Italy in 1978 adds and 1982 and it is necessary to await 1989 to again see it Inter imposing itself in championship in front of then the two large clubs of the moment: its large Milanese rival Milan AC and the Naples Soccer of Diego Maradona. This title allows Inter appearing in the third rank of the clubs most titrated in championship.

Years 1990 are remembered by three victories in UEFA Cup: 1991, 1994 and 1998 (more one final in 1997). But in spite of the arrival of It Fenomeno Ronaldo, Dennis Bergkamp, Youri Djorkaeff, Christian Vieri or of Roberto Baggio, none of them allowed Inter reconquering the championship. This incapacity to gain this " scudetto" awaited by all the " tifosi" inter can be allotted to the sporting superiority of the juve and led to the report that it Inter did not have the level of the two other large Italian clubs in spite of higher sums invested in term of recruitment and that the club was " maudit" what caused a fall of notoriety of this one with respect to its supporters (lowers number of subscribers and spectators). However, this food shortage on the level of the trophies is explained especially by the attitude of Juventus. Indeed, in 2006, the scandal " calciopoli" revealed that Luciano Moggi, sport director of the Piedmontese club, had set up since its arrival at the head of the club in 1994 a network of corruption thanks to which many large transalpine referees had supported Juve during almost 12 years; added to that, of the charges of doping for the period a 1994-1998 (during which Juve amongst other things gained 3 championships of Italy, league of the champions, an Intercontinental Cut, an UEFA Cup and was finalist twice same Champions League). Inter thus perhaps the " did not have; niveau" but certain factors helped there. For memory, an obvious case of " corruption" had taken place in 1998 at the time of a match precisely opposing Juve to Inter, both in race for the title, and during which the arbitration had been incontestably in favor of Juve (what had caused ignited polemics).

Years 2000 start on the same tempo, the club obtaining only titles in Coupe of Italy (2005 and 2006). Inter master key very close to the title at the time of season 2001/2002: the club lombard remains championship at the head all the season and at 4 days of the end, counts 6 points in advance on its first prosecutors. But it Inter loses little by little ground and at the time of the last match disputed on May 5th, 2002 in Rome vis-a-vis Lazio, whereas in the event of victory, inter would be to it champion, the club of Massimo Moratti collapses completely: after having carried out 2-0, the team carried out by Ronaldo is made join with the score then to exceed and inclines itself with final 4-2. But in 2006 following the Business of the faked matches of Calcio, which relates to especially the juve, the title is obtained on green carpet for Inter fifteen years after the precedent (14th of its history). Manpower is one of most talented in the world and account in particular Marco Materazzi Luis Figo, Patrick Vieira, Zlatan Ibrahimovic (both recovered with the Juventus), Adriano, Javier Zanetti or Hernan Crespo inter alia.

At the time of the season 2006-2007, it Inter an excellent beginning of championship succeeds since this team succeeds in beating not only the record of victories of sharpened in Calcio which belonged up to that point to Roma with 11 victories, but also the European record (of the championships considered of first level, namely Italian, Spanish, English, German and French) which was held jointly by large the Real Madrid of Di Stefano like by Bayern of Munich and pushed it with 17 victories of row, series completed by no one 1-1 against Udinese the February 28th 2007.

The beginning of the season 2006-2007 is however marked by the death of the president and former player, Giacinto “Cippe” Facchetti, the September 4th at the 64 years age. The September 6th, the match opposing France to Italy on behalf of the eliminating heats of the Euro 2008 begins over one minute of silence lasting which the 80.000 spectators of the stage of France honor with their the glorious applause late one. The September 8th, the UEFA authorizes it Inter withdrawing number 3 in Argentinian Nicolas Burdisso who sees himself allotting number 16 for the season to come. In championship, it Inter beats the record of many consecutive victories of the history of Calcio and on April 22nd, 2007 it Inter preserve their title of scudetto (on the ground this time) which they dominated of the beginning to the end (fifteenth of the History of the Nerazzurro club).
