Innate Geipel

Innate Geipel , born Schmidt in 1960 with Dresden, (Saxony), is a athlete of German Democratic republic, which practiced the long jump and the relay.

It is at the 14 years age, at the time of a “spartakiade”, competition of young people being held in ex-GDR, that its athletic qualities were located. It was then integrated in a program to intend to develop the talents, with the means, it learned it later, of a policy centered on the doping of State.

In the years 1984, it appeared in the East-German team which prepared the Olympic Games of summer of 1984 of Los Angeles. During this year it beat, with its club (and Bärbel Wöckel, Ingrid Auerswald and Marlies Göhr), the world records of 4 X 100 meters in 42" 20. Finally, because of the Boycott of the plays by the countries of the Warsaw Pact, it did not take part in the plays.

A little later it was excluded from its sport: during the preparation to the plays which it carried out with the Mexico, it had fallen in love with a local athlete with whom it had worked out a project of defection.
