Infineon is a group of Semi-conducteur S, Spin-off of Siemens AG, created in 1999 and placed on the Stock market beginning 2000. It is the world leader of the market of the components for smart cards.

Infineon appears among the largest electronic chipmakers. In 2005, it is number 6, behind American Intel, Korean Samsung, American Texas Instruments and its European rival STMicroelectronics.

Its main competitors are Atmel, Samsung, STMicroelectronics and Philips. Infineon is the only European founder to submit statements DRAM.
