Europe

  • Rome: passage of the Republic to the Empire.
  • Presence attested of Jewish in Spain between -100 and -50 by the presence of tombstones registered in Hebrew (Tarragone, Tortosa, Mérida, etc).
  • Development of the Oppida in Western Europe.
  • British Celtic art is divided into two currents during, with side the multiplication of the human or animal illustrated elements, and of the another appearance of a whole series of drawings and volumes abstracted, conditioned by the use of the compass. The art of the bronze mirrors illustrates the height of this technique. The Middle East

  • At first century BC, the throne of Judaea is the stake of a serious conflict between the two princes hasmonéens Hyrcan II and Aristobule II . The governor Antipater is combined with the Romains which had remained for one century in the area, and in 63 av. J. - C., the Roman army occupies Jerusalem, and the general Pompée enters the Temple of Jerusalem.

India

  • the Scythian dynasty of the Saka reign at the beginning of the century and the middle of the century following on the Eastern Afghanistan and the North of the Pakistan. Its sovereigns carry the Greek title of Basileus and control via satraps.
  • Stûpa of Bhârhut and Sânchî (v. -100/-50). First examples of the Buddhist statuary known, they offer representations of setting in Buddhist scenes of legends, at the time of spectacles of theater and dance attested in the texts since Ashoka.

  • At the time of the dynasties Shunga, Kanva and Andhra, Buddhist architecture is different. In addition to Stûpa, one builds monasteries (Vihâra). In the beginning builds out of wood, those which one knows are dug in the rock, just like the rooms chaitya containing a stûpa. Dimensions of the stûpa increase with the wire of time.
