Identification of the birds

The physical aspects, ecological and behavioral are the keys of the determination of the species, which they are birds or other living beings.

The identification of a bird requires moreover patience and direction of the observation. The distinction between species is done in particular:

  • by external appearance (size, silhouette, plumage)
  • by the cries and the songs
  • by the attended mediums
  • by the behavior.

Certain birds resemble each other physically much (case of the Pouillot S, of the Grimpereau X, for example) and can be distinguished easily only by their song.

The hardware requirement can be rather rudimentary:

  • an ornithological book of identification
  • a pair of binoculars
Nevertheless, to allow a fine determination, the complements which will be quickly necessary are:
  • glasses of observation
  • a scratch pad and a pencil

The identification of the birds is a science and can constitute a pastime with whole share.

The concepts of species can evolve/move, classification being subjected to continuous work of scientific research.
