Invented there is: 4000 years, the hurling ( Camogie for the women) is the oldest Sport in Ireland and the 3rd most popular sport in this country, but it is however unknown out of Ireland. It is a play which requires speed, a large technical address and much of physical power. This sport counts: 100000 bachelors in Ireland. This kind of Field hockey is regarded as the collective sport most impressive by the address and the power which it requires.
Matches
The hurling is played 15 against 15. The ground is 140 m long for 80 m broad. The players use a hurley or camán to type in a sliotar , a ball slightly larger and much harder than with the Tennis. This ball can reach the speed of 110 km/h. The teams consist of a goalkeeper, 6 defenders, 2 medium grounds and 6 attackers. The attackers begin the part on the side of unfavourable defense. The goals are in the form of H. to mark a point, it is necessary to send the ball (the sliotar ) between the vertical posts, in lower part of the horizontal bar, in the nets, they are three points for the team and above it is a point. One thus sees final scores like 3-10 to 1-15 (which are equivalent to 19 (3x3+10) points against 18 (1x3+15)). The part lasts two 35 minutes half-times each one. There is one referee on the ground.
Rules
There is the right to collect the ball only with the stick (the hurley ). The ball can be last with the stick, the hand, or of a kick. On the other hand, one can move it only with the end of the stick or the hand during four steps. In this Sport, there is no off-side, from where interest to send the sliotar far in front. The solo-run is authorized. If the player wants to intercept a ball with the hand, it must keep a foot with ground. The hurling is a sport of contact: one can push back the player by the shoulder but the blows of elbow or hip are prohibited. Competitions
The season comprises two competitions organized by the GAA : the championship , and the league . The championship is most prestigious. Being held May at September, he opposes teams of amateurs, as in all the other sports gaelic, the hens join together counties and provinces. The final takes place first Sunday of September in front of: 82500 spectators with Croke Park (Dublin), gaining it gains the McCarthy Cup.-

- Camogie : Female version of the hurling. The league counts: 50000 players in Ireland. The matches are played 13, that is to say 2 less than with the hurling. The women play on a smaller ground.
