Hudson Lowe

Sir Hudson Lowe , O.B, Order of Saint-Michel and Saint-Georges, born the June 28th 1769 with Galway, in Ireland; deceased the January 10th 1844 with London, with the the United Kingdom) was a British Général .

The name of Sir Hudson Lowe remained famous because he was the second and last geôlier of Napoleon i on the island Sainte-Hélène (governor of the Island of 1816 to 1821). He discharged some with a hardness which, in France, gave to its name odious famous. The Emperor who always suspected it of wanting to make an attempt on his life, said of him: " He has the crime engraved on the visage" . Napoleon will die the May 5th 1821.

Napoleon had arrived on the island of Holy Helene in November 1815, resided for one month at the house of Briars under the monitoring of the Admiral Cockburn (first governor of Holy Helene) in order to join his final place of detention, a farm located on the plate of Longwood under the monitoring of Sir Hudson Lowe.

He left at his own people a memory of opprobrium on his way of treating the Emperor.

He was named with the téte 56e Régiment with foot (West Essex) of 1831 to 1842.

He died the January 10th 1844 with Chelsea.
