Hoves

Hoves (in Picardy and Walloon Ôve , in Dutch Hove ) is an old commune of Wallonia located in the province of Hainaut. It is now a section of commune of Silly.

Its small Romance church equipped with a Gothic arrow is remarkable. One of the former priests drew there in the porch of great clear diagrams which clarify the layers (Romance, Gothic, later), of its complex construction. One has been able to also read there the name of different serving for several centuries and that gives an idea of what linguistic Frontière was here the which, according to Elisee Legros always passed, since of unmemorable times between Hoves and Enghien, itself old francized Flemish city.
