Horace Gundry Alexander , born the July 30th 1889 and dead the September 30th 1989, is a British Quaker , professor and writer, Pacifiste and ornithologist. He is the brother of Wilfred Backhouse Alexander.

Alexander devoted its life to the observation of the Oiseau X and was implied very early in the movements of protection of the Avifaune. It contributed to modern ornithology amateur, discipline between the leisures and the contribution to the scientific knowledge.

Alexander lived the essence of its life to the the United Kingdom, but its observations also led it in India and to the the United States, where, moreover, it finishes its life.

He was a friend close to Gandhi which described it (in 1942) like one of the best British friends of India. In 1984, Alexander receives the medal Padma Bhushan, the greatest reward which can be given to a civilian not-Indian.
