Holy Veronique

Holy Veronique or Bérénice is a character who is not attested by historical sources. One locates it at the 1st century. It is a holy catholic and orthodoxe but according to two traditions which differ. The February 4th celebrates.
Presentation
In the Latin tradition
The devotion of the “Chemin of cross” evokes this woman who would have faced hostile crowd and uses the veil which covered its head to wipe the face of the Christ during her Passion. The image of the face of Jesus miraculeusement would miraculeusement have been collected on this linen which took also the name of Holy Shroud (but is not the Saint-Shroud of Turin) or Sainte Face. This episode is not reported by the Évangile S.Several versions result from this first account. A legend says that the emperor Tibère, cured by this relic, would have granted to holy Veronique the exile of Pontius Pilate. The name of Veronique , in a Latin mixture of and Greek, would come from verum Eikôn which would mean " the image authentique". With what Western piety addition an element of the search of the Graal, or even while making of Veronique, the wife of Zachée which both came until Soulac and Amadour.
Various churches have a linen presented like the Voile of Veronique, with Rome, Milan, Jaén in Spain.
In the Greek tradition
Veronique or Bérénice is there simply the name of the woman hémoroïsse cured by Christ. The two traditions are not incompatible up to now. But the East has another tradition of the origin of Mandilion (Holy Face), image of its face made by the Christ himself and sent to a king Abgar of Arménie at the request of this monarch.
