Hockey with the Olympic Games
The Hockey makes its first appearance with the Olympic Games in 1920 at the time of the Olympic Games of summer of Antwerp, indeed the Winter Olympics will be born only in 1924 in Chamonix where the hockey will immediately find its place in the program.
Female hockey taken share with the Winter Olympics that starting from 1998 in Nagano.
The male tournament is composed of twelve nations while the female tournament contains only eight of them.
The rules are the following ones:
- Pas more than six players of the same team on the ice
- the part is made up of three thirds time 20 minutes, with two 15 minutes pauses, the teams change side with each third time. If the two teams are always with equality, an extension by 5 minutes with stop with the first marked goal takes place, and if there is always equality a series of shootings to the goals determines the winner (except for the matches with direct elimination where the prolongation can go up to 20 minutes with stop to the first marked goal). (the rules are the same ones for the men and the women)
