Comments

This film is a romantic and painful exploration sufferings of the girl of immense the Victor Hugo, his search without hope to deny this invading father and to live in an autonomous way. The memory of the tragic death of his/her sister Léopoldine Hugo and the indifference of an English officer that she believes to like accentuate his slip towards the madness. The music composed by Maurice Jaubert, itself precociously died in 1940 underlines the tragedy and at the same time pays homage to Jean Vigo which had already retained these topics for Atalante .

In connection with “the History of Adele H.”, written Truffaut:

“By establishing the script of “the wild Child” according to the Report of Doctor Jean Itard, we had discovered, Jean Gruault and me, the great pleasure which consists in organizing a history of fiction starting from real events by endeavouring anything to invent, and not to deteriorate the truth of the documentary material. If it is difficult to build an intrigue unanimist, mixing ten characters whose actions intersect, it is almost also difficult to write a film intimist putting in scene only one character on the screen. I however believe that it is this solitary aspect which attracted me more in this project; having turns of the stories of love to two characters and with three characters, I had the impression to try an enthralling experiment, devoured by a passion with one way. ”
