Hexagon nut
A hexagon nut is a nut having the form of a regular Hexagone.
Symbology
The following symbols are used on this page. All dimensions hereafter are given in Millimètre S (mm).
ATTENTION: All dimensions hereafter are valid only in the case of hexagon nuts in metric series. For other series such as nuts ANSI and/or other particular profiles of nuts and/or step of nuts, to refer to the standards specifically applied.
-
D = nominal diameter of the nut (diametric dimension in net bottom).
- H / h1 = nominal height of the nut.
- H2 = height of a low nut .
- h3 = height of a high nut .
- hsl = height of a following nut D
- K = dimensions enter the opposite dishes of the hexagon nut.
- p = not of threading (not nominal)
Height of a nut
There exists in several Height S, always in relation to the diameter of the Filetage (d):
-
h1 - usual Nut - between 0,75 and 0,8d - (Standards ISO 4032/NF IN 24032/DIN IN 24032)
- H2 - low Nut - between 0,5 and 0,6d - (Standards ISO 4039/NF IN 24033/DIN IN 24033)
- h3 - high Nut - approximately 0,9d - (Standards ISO 4035/NF IN 24035/DIN IN 24035)
- hsl - very high Nut - D = H
- extra-light (symbol HMZ ) (not represented in the tables below)
Example: for a threading of M10: the normal nut ( h1 ) has a thickness of 8mm, the top ( h3 ) 10mm, bottom ( H2 ) 5mm.
Rank and type of a nut
The state of completion of a nut is called rank of the product . Its level of fiablility is called standard .
-
Rank C : Nuts cold forged or hot without finishing
- Rank B : Nuts cold forged or hot with possible finishing (D lower than M16)
- Grade has : Nuts forged cold or hot with possible finishing (D equal M16 and more)
- Standard 1 : Product subjected to a quality control and dimensional reinforced.
- Standard 2 : Product subjected to a quality control and dimensional standard.
- Standard 3 : Product subjected to the controls reduced on sampling.
