Herve Bazin

Herve Bazin (Pseudonym of Jean-Pierre Herve-Bazin) (April 17th 1911 with Angers - February 17th 1996 in the same city) was a French writer.
Biography
Its childhood is tormented, within a family excessively pious woman and middle-class woman, it was opposed to his/her authoritative mother, who was for him a great inspiration for Folcoche in Vipère with the fist . He running away several times in his adolescence, refuses catholic teaching in right, and the year of its twenty years he breaks with his family.
He started by carrying out many odd jobs and writing poetry, first about fifteen years without glare. To note all the same the creation of a poetic review in 1946, the Shell (eight volumes only), and obtaining the Apollinaire price for Day, its first collection of poems, follow-up of To the continuation of Iris in 1948.
On the council of Paul Valéry, it is diverted poetry to be devoted to prose.
The conflict reports/ratios that it had with his mother during her childhood inspire constantly him the novel Vipère with the fist in 1948, where the relation of hatred is told between Folcoche (nickname resulting from the contraction from “insane” and “cochonne”), a dry and cruel mother, with the search for new means of oppression and brimade, and his/her children, of which initially the narrator, Jean Rezeau, called Brew-Bubble. Maurice Nadeau will appreciate these “Atrides in flannel vest”, according to the proper expression of Herve Bazin (p. 23). This Romance will be an immense success post-war period, and will be followed many others, which describe with a certain naturalism and an art of the psychological portrait, manners of its time. Other novels will have as hero the characters of Vipère to the fist ( the death of the small horse and Cri of the owl .).
In 1950, it takes part with other writers like Marcelle Auclair, Jacques Audiberti, Emile Danoën, Maurice Druon and André Maurois, with the number of the review of Lucie Faure, the Nave , entitled “the Love is to be reinvented”.
Herve Bazin will be regarded as “a novelist of the family”, central theme of all his novels. He also wrote Nouvelle S and Essai S ( what I believe , 1977).
Herve Bazin became member of the Académie Goncourt in 1960 (elected with the cover of Francis Carco). He became president in 1973 about it. He was in his turn replaced, after his death, by Jorge Semprún (while the presidency was entrusted to François Nourissier).
Politically, Herve Bazin belonged to the Mouvement of Peace, in relation to the Communist party to which Bazin was close. He obtained the Prix Lénine in 1980, which made say pleasantly to Roger Peyrefitte: “Herve Bazin had two prices which made during: the Lénine price of Peace and the price of black Humor. ”
In 1995, Herve Bazin deposited his manuscripts and his correspondence with the municipal files of the town of Nancy, already in possession of the funds of the Frères Goncourt, originating in the city. Following a legal imbroglio, the six children of its first marriages obtained, against the opinion of his last wife and her last wire, the sale of this funds to the Hôtel Drouot, on October 29th, 2004. Helped by the local government agencies, the college library of Angers succeeded in with preempting it quasi totality of this inheritance, that is to say 22 manuscripts and nearly 9000 letters… given to the provision of the researchers, as the author wished it.
Herve Bazin, was the great nephew of Rene Bazin, also writer.
