Henri-Joseph Ruxthiel
Henri-Joseph Ruxthiel is a sculptor born in 1775 with Lierneux (Belgium) and died in Paris in 1837.
Initially shepherd, it turns tardily to the sculpture. He becomes in 1800 the pupil of Houdon, then of the sculptor Roland and the painter David. He obtains in 1809 the Prix of Rome de Sculpture with a relief Dédale attaching wings to his son Icare and leaves then for the Villa Médicis.
