Henri-Jooris stage

The stage Henri-Jooris is the old principal stage of Lille. In use until in 1975, it was mainly used by the Olympique Inhabitant of Lille then the Lille Olympique Sporting Club Metropolis.

Its predecessor, the Victor-Boucquey stage, was the principal stage of the general sports club inhabitant of Lille between the two world wars, the Olympic Inhabitant of Lille. In the beginning, it accommodates mainly matches of football and field hockey. The team of France of football made there its first match of its history in province. A meeting of the Football world cup is disputed there, Hungary - Suisse, on June 12th, 1938.

After fusion in 1944 between the Olympic Inhabitant of Lille and SC Fives, the Victor-Boucquey stage becomes the stage of Lille Olympique Sporting Club. The February 17th 1946, 18.000 spectators mass there to follow the derby Lille - Lens. Many spectators are placed on the roofs of the platforms. Once the helps occurred, the derby begin again, but the stage is closed for repair in the tread. It opens again its doors in August 1946 affublé of a new name: Stage Henri-Jooris, of the name of the president of the Olympic Inhabitant of Lille of 1910 with 1932.

Decayed, the Henri-Jooris stage, built at the edge of Deûle, which occurred Léo-Lagrange, must be destroyed with the beginning of the year 1970 to allow the setting the large gauge of the waterway.
