Hen-the-Écharmeaux is a common French, located in the department of the the Rhone and the area the Rhone-Alps.

Geography

Village located at the north of the department on D110 (old road buissionère) in the North-West of Lyon, between Roanne and Mâcon. it belongs to the Communauté of communes of the High Valley of Azergues.

History

The name in 1801, the village was called Poule. It was débaptisé in 1954 famous then Hen-the-Echarmeaux. Before these dates, Poule was written HEN.

Demography

834 people live with Hen-the-Echarmeaux (source 2005: Yahoo.fr ). At the beginning of the Years 1970, the village counted more than 1000 inhabitants; at the beginning of the 20th century, between 1928 (1896) and 1753 (1901).

The village is in the Top Beaujolais. Its inhabitants take part each year in various festivities. The environment of the village is primarily rural. One finds there linked activities with the production and the transformation of the Bois, Agriculteur S but also of the Artisan S: Mason S, Carpenter S Carpenter S, Mechanic S, Metal worker, Carriage-builder, and of the trade of proximity: bakery, butcher's and pork butcher's shop delicatessen, hairdressing salon, mini-market, paper mill newspapers.

A Gare was below built the center of the village and passenger transport is ensured with Lyon twice a day. This station is currently threatened of closing.

Tourism

Ground of Camp-site 2 stars of 4500 m ². Fishing with the Trout in the Azergues, but also fishing in the water level which is also a pleasant place of relaxation with its flowered accesses, its plays for the children, his framework of greenery and trees, appreciated during the hot season.
