Helmet of Marboré

The Helmet of Marboré , Helmet of Gavarnie , or all simply the Helmet , is a top of the the Pyrenees located on the peak Franco-Spanish Frontière of peaks of more than 3.000 m in the Massif of Mount-Lost.

Geography

Associated with the Turn of Marboré, the peaks of the Cascade , and with the Peak of Marboré, it belongs to the belt of the Cirque of Gavarnie (1 500 m of uneven since the bottom of the valley where the largest cascade of Europe is, the cascades of Gavarnie , with its 422 m height) which marks the limit between the National park of the Pyrenees (France) and the National park of Ordesa and of Mount-Lost (Spain, Vallée of Ordesa).

Access roads

The access by Spain is possible in the car to the meadows of the valley of Ordesa, or to the valley of Bujaruelo, while French side, it is necessary to go to the ski station Gavarnie-Gèdre, the place nearest to the sommet.
Since Ordesa, it is necessary to go up until the Refuge of Goriz (2 190 m, 4 hours of rise, and base camp for the exploration of all the zone), and to then follow the way which leads to the Brèche of Roland, until arriving at the collar located between the tower of Marboré and the Helmet, from which the final rise is tackled.
Starting from Ordesa, one can also arrive at the same collar while going up by the Cirque of Cotatuero or that of Carriata.
Since Gavarnie-Gèdre and Bujaruelo, it is necessary to go up to the French refuge of Sarradets, then to reach the breach of Roland, to continue towards the east to the southern slope of the peak for finally arriving at the collar located between the tower of Marboré and the Helmet, where one finds the way described above.
