Heinrich Frey is a Entomologiste Suisse of German origin , born the June 15th 1822 with Francfort-sur-le-Main and dead the January 17th 1890 with Zurich.
Frey makes its studies with gymnasium of Frankfurt until the sixteen years age. It then meets the senator Carl Heinrich Georg von Heyden (1793-1866) who initiates it with the Entomologie. It enters to the Université of Francfort-sur-le-Main then voyage to Bonn, Berlin and Göttingen.
When it goes back to Frankfurt in 1839, von Heyden makes him discover an article of Philipp Christoph Zeller (1808-1883), Attempt At has Classification off the Tineinae , which had just appeared in the review Isis of Lorenz Oken (1779-1851). Before this publication, the classification of this group of butterfly S was at the very least confused and Frey is impressed by the organization carried out by Zeller.
Frey turns over to Göttingen in 1847 where it is Privatdozent, then extraordinary professor. In 1849, it receives and accepts an offer of the Université of Zurich. In 1851, Frey becomes ordinary professor of the medical college then, almost immediately, professor at the confederal polytechnic school. He is also the director of the anatomical institute of microscopy and, of 1854 with 1856, vice-chancellor of the high studies. Frey passes the remainder of its life in Suisse. Among its publications, it is necessary to quote Der Lepidopteren der Schweiz (W. Engelmann, 1880) and, with Henry Tibbats Stainton (1822-1892) and John William Douglas (1814-1905), The Natural History off the Tineina (thirteen volumes, 2000 pages, 1855).
