Hector Bianciotti

Hector Biancotti is a journalist, writer and French academician of origin italo - Argentine.

Biography

Born the March 18th 1930 in Calchin Oeste in the Argentinian Pampa, Hector Biancotti is high within a family of farmers of origin Piedmont ease. His/her parents spoke the dialect between them but prohibited of it the use with their son, constrained of speaking Spanish. Integrating the small seminar franciscain of Moreno, it comes into contact with the theological thought but appears deprived of any religious vocation. It settles with Paris only as from February 1961. One year later, it starts to write reports/ratios of reading for the editions Gallimard. In 1969, its first editor, Maurice Nadeau, enables him to publish its first literary criticisms in the literary Fortnight . It is also attending the setting in scene of operas. Three years later, it begins with Nouvel Observateur a collaboration which becomes exclusive only starting from 1974, year when it leaves definitively the literary Fortnight . In parallel, he writes in his native tongue of the novels ( gilded deserts in 1962, That which travels the night in 1969, This moment which is completed in 1972) and a part theater, others, one evening of summer (1970). He is devoted in 1977 by the Prix Médicis foreign which he receives for the Treaty of the seasons (1977).

Naturalized French in 1981, it ceases the following year writing in its native tongue. The news gathered in 1983 in the Love is not liked (price of the Best foreign book) were thus written before. This same year, it sits at the reading panel of Gallimard and this until in 1989. Two later, its first novel in French, Without the mercy of Christ (1985), is seen granting the Prix Femina.

For the whole of its work, it obtains the price Prince Pierre of Monaco in 1993 and the Price of the language of France in 1994. He is elected with the French Academy, on January 18th, 1996, with the armchair of André Frossard.
