Hans Vollenweider

Hans Vollenweider (1908 with Zurich - October 18th 1940 with Sarnen), was the last condemned to dead carried out in Suisse following a suit at law.

Vollenweider is stopped in 1934 for an attempt at removal. In May 1935, it makes a steering but fails during its attempt. In 1936, a court condemns it with its accomplices to 2 years and half of prison. In spite of a correct behavior at the time of its detention, the authorities decide to lengthen its sorrow. The June 4th 1939, it escapes from a detention center located in the Oberland inhabitant of Zurich.

The June 15th, it shoots at Hermann Zwyssig in order to get a new identity. It cuts down on June 20th Emil Stoll, a post-office employee who did not want to give him his porte-monnaie. Vollenweider leaves Zurich then and moves towards Lucerne. It finds work in a hotel in the area of Sachseln. The police force of Zurich finds her trace and charges a police officer with Sachseln, Alois von Moos, to carry out her arrest but Vollenweider draws on the agent during the operation. After its capture, Vollenweider is locked up in several centers of various cantons. It is finally given to the authorities of Obwald.

He is condemned to died by the cantonal court of Obwald the September 19th 1940. After a call and a request for grace which were refused, in spite of the imminence of the abolition of the capital punishment in Switzerland for the civilians, Vollenweider was guillotine in Sarnen the October 18th.
