Hamid Karzai

Hamid Karzai (born the December 24th 1957) is the president of the Afghanistan.

Hamid Karzai is a Pashtoune of good family born in 1957. In 1979, its family settles with the Pakistan, with Quatan, to flee the Soviet invasion . It makes its studies in India and is graduate political sciences in 1983, it also studied the Audiovisuel with the school of Journalisme of Lille, then returns to the Pakistan to teach English while his/her four brothers emigrate in the United States of America to found a chain of restaurants.

It belongs to a small Afghan resistance movement pro-royalist, and is named vice-minister of the Foreign affairs when the Moudjahidin take Kabul in 1992. In front of the confrontations of the members war leaders of the government, it tries in 1994 to persuade the commander Massoud to take again the government, but this one suspects it of being an agent of Pakistan and the met in Prison. He escapes thanks to the fortuitous destruction from his prison by a rocket. He collaborates then with the talibans, but after the catch of Kabul in 1996, he refuses the station of the representative of the talibans to UNO proposed by the Mollah Omar. It breaks any relationship to the mode after the assassination of his father the July 14th 1999, probably by a Taliban.

Hamid Karzai is located in the years 1990 by Zalmay Khalilzad Afghan naturalized in the United States in 1984 and which belongs to the RAND Corporation, a Think tank near to the administration to the United States and current ambassador of the United States in Afghanistan. On its councils, the State Department decides to promote it like future president; to give him a legitimacy, it is sent in Afghanistan in October 2001 to gather some tribes pashtounes against the talibans, the acts of war in fact being largely carried out by the American and British special forces. He escapes an attack the September 5th 2002.

The June 13rd 2002, it is elected president for two years by the Loya Jirga (assembled usual of the chiefs of clans). He then becomes the president of the intermediate government set up following the fall of the mode Taliban in December 22nd 2001 until the ielle election President democratic of the October 9th 2004 to which he presented himself. Supported by the the United States, it gained the poll in 21 of the 34 provinces of the country and with overall 55,4 % of the voices (4,5 million votes on 8,1 million) thanks to the financial support of his/her younger brother, Ahmed Wali Karzai, which is manifestly one of the largest drug traffickers of the country. It took up duty officially the November 3rd. Its authority apart from the capital Kabul remains however extremely limited, whereas the trade of opium becomes increasingly flourishing, to the point to sap the bases of the State in several provinces.

In September 2006, he travels to the Canada to thank it for his sacrifices in the area of Kandahar. June 10th, 2007, it was the target of 12 Roquettes launched in direction of its residence whereas it was expressed in front of inhabitants of the district of Andar. The talibans asserted this attack by the voice of their spokesperson Qari Youssef Ahmadi. No victim was recencée following this attack.
