Haïk
Haïk is a legendary hero of mythology Arménie. According to the legend, Haïk, giant going down from Noah, fought and gained against Bêl, a giant of Babylon. This victory thus enables him to equip its people with a territory: the Arménie. In return, by gratitude, its people regard it as patriarch of the Nation called from now on, in his honor, Hayastan or " Ground of Haïk". From this name that derives from " Hay" meaning " Arménien" , or " descendant of Haïk".
Some historians think that Haik was the real Armenian leader of the front third millennium J. - C; others believe that it is a related purely mythical figure with the traditional founders of Rome, Romulus and Remus. Haik is also used in place of Orion, in the translation Armenian of the Bible.
The large Armenian historian of the 5th century, Moïse of Khorène, which one knows thanks to Hérodote, described the arrival of Haïk and his people in Arménie: " he built a village which came to be known like Haykashen (the Construction of Haïk). In the middle of this plain and with the foot of the mountain which had a broad base, where people had already lived there. These people submitted themselves to the rule of new the héros."
