HRGP
HRGP is an abbreviation of English who means Hydroxyprolin Rich Glyco Protein is Glycoprotéine rich in Hydroxyproline. They are also named expansines.
Nature
The chains of HRGP are glycoprotéines. They have properties structural, enzymatic and of defense. The researchers note an increase in the concentration of HRGP in the infected vegetable cells. They are very rich in Hydroxyproline also present in the animal Collagène.
They can represent up to 10% of the dry weight of the primary wall.
Functions
Initially named extensine, wrongly, these molecules are favourable with a consolidation of the fibrillary network of the wall. The various units of HRGP are plain between them by connections of various forces (covalent bonds and hydrogen bonds) in particular between two Tyrosine S. This network of HRGP associated with mineral ions (Ca2+) intervene like stabilizing elements. It indeed blocks the properties of polysaccharidic plasticity of the network of the vegetable wall.
