Guy de Rothschild

Guy de Rothschild , Edouard, Alphonse, Paul, is a banker French born the May 21st 1909 with Paris and dead the June 12th 2007 with Paris.

It chaired the bank Rothschild - Paris of 1967 to 1979, nationalized in 1982, and of many other French companies and foreign. He was unified Jewish president of the Funds of a company, 1950 to 1982 and the Consistory of 1950 to 1956. He is owner of the Haras of Méautry to Touques, in Normandy, where several galopeurs of world reputation were high.

Its personal stable ran under casaque blue and yellow hat, called a long time by the racegoers the " holy casaque" for its regularity in the victories. With it, Guy de Rothschild in particular gained once the Prix of the Triumphal arch in 1963 with Exbury , which will remain its preferred horse, three times the prestigious Prix of Diane (1957, 1960,1961), three times the Royal Prix Oak (1949, 1964,1973), twice the Prix Morny or the Prix Vermilion.

Guy de Rothschild chaired the Trade union of the stockbreeders of horses of blood in France of 1975 to 1982.

Biography

Guy de Rothschild is the son of the baron Edouard de Rothschild (1868-1949) and of Germaine Halphen (1884-1975). He married in first weddings in 1937 with one of his relationships, Alix Schey de Koromla (1911-1982), of catholic confession, which ft Rand noise at the time. He had a son in 1942 of them, David de Rothschild. Divorced, it remaria in 1957 with Marie-Helene van Zuylen de Nyevelt de Haar (1927-1996), another of its relationships, of which he had a son the same year, Edouard de Rothschild. Guy and Marie-Helene organized with the Hotel Lambert, in the ïle Saint-Louis, the festivals more dazzling of Paris.

In 1940, deposed of its French nationality because of its judaïté, it had been constrained to leave France on arrival of the troops Nazis to take refuge in the United States, before joining the free French Forces (FFL) with London.

Gaullist, Guy de Rothschild was a long time influential in policy, in particular in the Années 1960 and 1970. Having taken under its wing Georges Pompidou since 1954, it made an external associate of it. There remained close to him when this last became president of the Republic in 1969. It also bound friendship, later, with Jacques Chirac, then Edouard Balladur.

The nationalization of its bank by the left come to power was a personal test. “Jewish under Pétain, bet under Mitterrand, that is enough”, exclaimed it. It perceived 700 franc million of allowance.

In 1975, Guy de Rothschild and his wife made gift with the Université of Paris of their splendid castle of Tool bag-in-Brie (Seine-et-Marne), built at the XIXe century in the Renaissance style, entirely classified in 2000 with the inventory of the Historic buildings.

Guy de Rothschild had made the cover of Time Magazine on December 20th, 1963.

Guy de Rothschild is buried with the cemetery of Touques (Apple-brandy).
