Gustave Vapereau

Louis Gustave Vapereau , born with Orleans the April 4th 1819 and died in Morsang-on-Barley the April 17th 1906, is a French writer and encyclopedist, author of the universal Dictionnaire of the contemporaries and universal Dictionnaire of the literatures .

Normalien and aggregate of philosophy, it carries out a university career until in 1852, then becomes professor in free teaching. He is prefect of the Cantal in 1870 and of the Tarn-et-Garonne of 1871 with 1873, then general inspector of the state education of 1877 with 1888.

He collaborated in many reviews, in particular with the Illustration in collaboration with his son-in-law Maurice Tourneux, under the pseudonym of G. - M. Valtour. He also wrote under the pseudonym of Adrien tel.
