Guillaume Soro
Guillaume Kigbafori Soro (born the May 8th 1972 in Kofiplé, sub-prefecture of Diawala, in the department of Ferkessédougou) is a politician of the Ivory Coast. Soro is the Prime Minister of Ivory Coast since March 29th, 2007.
Soro is originating in the north of the Ivory Coast, and Catholic religion; engaged politically (called the Che ), it directs the Student confederation and school of Ivory Coast of 1995 to 1998 ( FESCI ). It is regularly sent in prison at that time after demonstrations.
In December 1999, one sees it at the sides of Robert Gueï after his successful coup d'etat, but is opposed to him and is combined with Alassane Ouattara when this one is excluded from the presidential election in 2000.
He is general secretary of the new Forces, the rebel movement, and the former secretary of the PMIC (patriotic Movement of Ivory Coast). The forces of which he is the political representative control 60% of the country as from September 2002 (beginning of the rebellion).
Governmental career
Soro takes part in the national reconciliation government of February 2003 with May 2004, then of August 2004 with December 2005, as Minister of Transport. The December 28th, it is named minister of state, of the Rebuilding and the Reintegration in the government of Charles Konan Banny.The signature of the political agreement of Ouagadougou offers to the new Forces the post of Prime Minister. The new Forces then chose their secretary-general, Guillaume Soro for this position on March 26th, 2007 and president Gbagbo ratified this nomination by taking a decree the 29 March 2007. The Political agreement of Ouagadougou fixes at April 8th the deadline for the constitution of a transition government.
The cabinet of Guillaume Soro was set up on March 7th, 2007. The Government must set up in particular two key points of the Political agreement of Ouagadougou: preparation of elections within 10 months and unification of the Armed forces of the new Forces (FAFN) and the National Armed forces of Coast-in Ivoire (FANCI).
Attempt at attack

On Friday, June 29, 2007, Soro escapes an attack with the rocket at the time of the landing of the plane in which it was at the time of its arrival with Bouaké. Four of the team members died and several are seriously wounded.
It could be that the authors are elements of its army rebels which reproaches him a non-consultation before the signature of the Accord of Ouagadougou.
