Guillaume Duprat

Guillaume Duprat , was born in 1507, with Issoire, and he died on October 22nd 1560, with the castle of Beauregard, country residence of the bishops of Clermont to Beauregard-l' Évêque, Puy-de-Dôme.

Family

He was the son of Antoine Duprat, Chancelier of France, and the nephew of Claude Duprat and Thomas Duprat.

Religious career

He was abbot Mozac of 1529 with 1560 (date of its death).

He was bishop of Clermont also of 1529 to 1560. He attended the Concile of Thirty, as a bishop, and he pointed out himself there for his eloquence. He supported the introduction of the Jésuite S in France, for which he founded the Collège of Clermont, become thereafter Collège of Louis-the-Large. He supported also the foundation of the colleges of Billom and Mauriac in Auvergne.
