- War of Jugurtha: Rome declares the war with Jugurtha, king of Numidie. A consul is sent in Numidie by the Romans to avenge death for their killed compatriots with Cirta in -113, but Jugurtha buys the consul. A little later king de Numidie is quoted to appear in Rome. Jugurtha goes there, and is allowed to buy a powerful orator to avoid being justified. The popular party uses the business to denounce the corruption of the senatorial class. The business becomes complicated when Massiva, a cousin of Jugurtha taken refuge in Rome is assassinated. The popular party had convinced it to claim near the Sénat the crown of Numidie. The suspicions go on Jugurtha and the Senate orders to him to leave the city. It launches before leaving: “City to be sold! You will perish if you find somebody to buy” to you.
