Greenpeace
The Governmental organization Greenpeace (of the English: green peace ) was founded in 1971 with Vancouver, Canada, by opponents of which Paul Watson with the tests of atomic bombs in the Aleutian Islands. Greenpeace is one of the main actors in favor of the safeguarding of the Nature and the Espèce S threatened in the world. This association is present and active in 160 countries.
Campaigns
After having devoted its first years to the campaigns against the Nuclear tests and for the defense of the Species S (in particular against the extinction of the Whale S), it is devoted to many topics. Greenpeace requires:

an effective fight against the Chemical Pollution (in particular by the elimination of toxic chemical substances);
- the protection of the old Forest S and the fight against the destruction of the Amazonia;
- an effective fight against the Climate warming;
- the safeguarding of the Sea S and the seamen circle;
- race end to the armaments, requirement with the Peace;
- the abandonment of the culture of GMO in full field;
- the exit of the Nuclear (civil and military);
- the prohibition of the immersion of the Radioactive waste;
- the promotion of a model of Sustainable development.
It supports the renewable energies and relays the public awareness campaigns on the application of the Protocole of Kyoto, in particular with the the United States. Greenpeace also militates for the safeguard of the Biodiversité, against the rejections Toxique S and the genetically modified Organismes.
Greenpeace was also opposed to the nuclear Filière of the fast reactors: to see on this subject Super-Phenix, engine in Dismantling on the Nuclear site of Creys-Malville.
The organization
The central office of “Greenpeace International” is located at Amsterdam (Netherlands). The organization counts 2,7 million members, single funding source of the organization, approximately a thousand of Employé S distributed in 40 countries and several thousands of voluntary militants. In France, in October 2005, association enters approximately 90.000 members as well as forty employees.
The Greenpeace method
The methods of Greenpeace rest partly on non-violent direct actions sometimes very Médiatisée S, which made its fame. Being based on the repercussions of these actions to inform the Media and the public, the organization also acts as a lobby near the political authorities and of the managers of undertakings in order to promote the ideas of safeguard of the Espèce S and the natural environments.
Greenpeace is very known for the use of boats at the time of its campaigns of protest and direct intervention. One of them, the Rainbow Warrior , became famous in 1985 in what was called in France “the Affaire of Rainbow Warrior” or “the Greenpeace business”: the French secret services made it run with two magnetic mines placed under its hull by plungers of the French Army in the port of Auckland whereas this one prepared with a cruising of protest against the French Nuclear tests of Moruroa. During this attack organized by the French government, the photographer Fernando Pereira was killed by the explosion of the second magnetic mine.

Greenpeace joined the collective " Stop EPR " who opposes the projects of a European pressurized Réacteur with Olkiluoto (Finland) and with Flamanville (Manche).
Since 2006, Greenpeace France is member of the collective Alliance for the planet.
