Green and yellow grass snake

The green grass snake and yellow attend the rock, dry and quite sunny grounds, exceptionally the mediums a little wetter like the meadows and the edges of rivers.

Coloring is dominated by the yellow without being however the prime coat. The back presents a score of discontinuous lines longitudinal yellow greenish.

This species is diurnal.

It climbs easily with the branches or in the bushes, to drive out or when it feels threatened. In this last case, she does not hesitate to adopt an aggressive behavior and seeks to bite, although its bite is not poisonous (painful bite).

She meets in the North-East, the center and the south of the France, in the south of the Suisse, in Italy, in the North-West of the Yugoslavia.

She does not seem not threatened in France and appears even expanding in the north of the country.

She is often quoted under the Latin name of Coluber viridiflavus , Lacépède, 1789.
