Grape

The grape is the Fruit improved of the cultivated Vigne ( Vitis will vinifera ). It is the second fruit more cultivated in the world (after the orange, cf classification). It is appeared as Grappe S made up of many grains, which are on the plan Botanique bay S, of small size and clear color, the white grape (greenish, yellowish, yellow gilded) or darker, the red grape (pink or black-purple).

It is used especially for manufacture of the Vin starting from its fermented juice (one speaks in this case about wine grapes), but is also consumed like fruit, either expenses, the Table grapes, or dryness, the dryed Grapes who is used especially in Pâtisserie or in Cuisine. One also consumes Grape juice fresh. Bays one extracts also the Huile from grape pips.

The two more important varieties of type of vine are:

  • Vitis will vinifera , originating in Europe, from which all the large type of vines for the wine and the table grapes rise.
  • Vitis labrusca , originating in North America, is used primarily like table grapes and a little bit for the wine. At the time of the attack of the European vines by the Phylloxéra, the European type of vines could be saved by grafting them on stocks of vitis labrusca .
