Beginning of career

Morrison was born with Glasgow and discovered the comics during the Sixties and Seventies. Its career started when he worked in a magazine called Near Myths with Bryan Talbot. After having worked on Captain Clyde for a local newspaper of Glasgow, it was employed by cd. Thomson in the Eighties.

Later, him and the draftsman Steve Yeowell the series Zenith for the review 2000 AD created. Zenith , déconstruction of the superhéroïque kind, put in scene a rock'n'roll star surface become a superman in spite of it, combatant a pandimensionelle conspiracy alien. He also created St Swithin' S Day with Paul Grist for the independent editor Trident Comics.

American success

The majority of following work of Morrison were published by cd. Comics. Its first mission concerned a minor character of cd., Animal Man , title in which it explored the rights of the animals and the méta-textual techniques, including a meeting between the character and his creator. He wrote for the series continues Doom Patrol during several years, series on which he used techniques of free writing for a differentiation inventive and surrealist of what was then the standard in the comics general public. From half of the Nineties, it created an ambitious series, The Invisibles , regarded by much as its most important work, a political series combining, elements of pop and subculture, which, according to Morrison, was a strong not recognized influence of the films Matrix . It also started again - with Howard Porter - the Justice League off America, making series again the gathering of the most powerful supermen of universe cd. This incarnation of League Justice have much success and opened the way with comics of spectacular action like Authority of Warren Ellis and Bryan Hitch.

Morrison recently returned to cd. Comics after several years at Marvel, where he wrote the New X-Men and the mini-series Marvel Boy and Fantastic Four 1234 . At cd. Comics, Morrison already wrote three mini-series. The three titles, Seaguy , We3 and Vimanarama , respectively imply a picaresque hero in a post-utopian world which does not need more him; cyber-improved animals fleeing their owners in what Morrison calls its " western manga" ; and of old myths Pakistani Hindu/transposed in adventures to the Jack Kirby. All are published under the label Vertigo of cd. Comics. Morrison also returned on the JLA with the first history of an anthological review, JLA: Classified , containing stories which treat myth JLA by various creative teams. It returns there on the Ultramarines, a team of superman created in the pages of the JLA.

Current work

In 2005 cd. Comics publishes what seems to be the first " mégasérie" , Seven Soldiers off Victory which revisits an old group of cd. Comics. Seven Soldiers de Morrison update in scene a setting of old characters: Guardian , Mister Miracle , Klarion the Witch Servant boy , Bulleteer , Spawn off Frankenstein , Zatanna and Shining Knight . The megasery consists of seven mini-series of four episodes dependant between them with two additional episodes (introductory and conclusive), that is to say 30 numbers in all.

End 2005 cd. will launch a new maximum-series of Superman by Morrison and Frank Quitely. Entitled AlStar Superman , the series will not revisit or will not start again Superman, but will present Superman " iconique" for the new readers.

By selling the project of Seven Soldiers off Victory with cd., Morrison presented a series of ideas for revisited characters, of which some would function in the context of fictional universe cd. as alive entity (a concept that he had proposed, based on that of Hypertime introduces during the crossover " Cd. 1 Million"). DaN DiDio, current President of cd. Comics, was impressed by this idea, gave him the nonofficial title of " rewrite guy" , and asked him to put in order universe cd. at leaving Infinite Crisis , the current event.
