Gottlieb Daimler

Gottlieb Daimler (in an original manner Däumler) (1834 - 1900) polytechnic Engineer is a German in Mécanique of genius. Inventive of the Driving S with gasoline, pioneer of the Automobile , inventor of the motor bike in 1885, and founder of the Automobile mark of Daimler transformed into Daimler-Benz AG then Mercedes-Benz on arrival of Emil Jellinek (called Mr Mercedes) and of Carl Benz in 1926.

Biography

1834 it is born the March 17th with Schorndorf in the Bade-Wurtemberg to approximately 30 km from Stuttgart.

Gottlieb Daimler starts to work like Engineer in Mécanique in the Industrie of Graffenstaden in Alsace before resuming its studies of Mécanique in 1857 with the Polytechnic school of Stuttgart.

1865 it binds friendship with its inventive compatriot and Industriel Wilhelm Maybach (future associate).

1867 it marries Emma Kunz with whom it has five children.

Manufacturer of engine Deutz AG

In 1869 it obtains an employment like draftsman in a manufacturer of Moteur S German with Karlsruhe, undertaken directed by the inventive Engineer of the Petrol engine Nikolaus August Otto. It makes thereafter engage his friend Wilhelm Maybach. They develop a functioning engine with the Gas coal. Three years later, in 1872, he becomes chief technical officer and joins Nikolaus August Otto to found Deutz AG, manufacturer of fixed gas engines.

Independent inventor

1882 it leaves Deutz AG with his/her friend Wilhelm Maybach to open a workshop independent in 1884 with Cannstatt (become since a district of Stuttgart) with the amount of the capital of its shares of Deutz AG where they improve the Four-stroke engine of the inventive Engineer French Alphonse Eugene Beau of Rochas, in particular by putting paddle S on the driving wheel for its cooling.

1885 they build the first motor bike world, in Bois, then successfully mount their engine on a boat, a sledge, a horse-drawn carriage in 1886, trams and pumps fire…

1887 Gottlieb Daimler deposits a Brevet for its Daimler engine with internal combustion at high speed which marks a big step in the development of the Automobile S and the motor bikes.

1889 they develop the Stohlradwagen, first car with an Engine spark-ignition , Carburateur with jet with gasoline (Moteur with two cylinders out of V) which they present on the stand of Panhard and Levassor of the gallery of the “machines and technological advances” of the World Fair of 1889 of Paris.

Armand Peugeot which presents his standard Peugeot 1 to steam boiler Serpollet discovers this revolutionary engine manufactured by Panhard and Levassor with Paris as of the end of the exposure. It joins them and builds the frame of a quadricycle, the standard Peugeot 2 followed one year later da the standard Peugeot 3 been driven by Daimler engine which marks the beginning of the empire of the car Peugeot of the Industrie French Automobile and Européenne been driven by Daimler engine.

In 1889 his wife dies.

Daimler Motoren Gesellschaft

In 1890 Gottlieb Daimler founds the company Daimler Motoren Gesellschaft of which he is shareholder with the third and becomes independent manufacturer. It names Wilhelm Maybach Engineer as a chief. This last resigns the following year in 1891 due to désavantageux contract followed by Gottlieb Daimler in 1893 following dissensions with its associates. He marries Lina Schwend with which he has two children and founds a new research laboratory and of manufacture independent to the Herrmann hotel of Stuttgart with Wilhelm Maybach where they develop successfully, an engine for car with drive by Courroie equipped with a Carburateur with Vaporisation.

In 1895, Daimler and Maybach reinstate Daimler Motoren Gesellschaft after new agreement with their associates to manufacture their engine in series.

In 1897 Daimler creates the Daimler Phoenix been driven by an engine before then present in 1899 the four-cylinder motor first .

In 1899 it builds a car with Wilhelm Maybach with engine Daimler for the brilliance and richissime general consul of the Empire Austro-Hungarian and Business man, Emil Jellinek (also known under the nickname of Mr Mercedes) which integrates the Board of directors of Daimler and buys the exclusiveness in the rights of the mark and the Brevet S techniques Daimler to successfully resell them in Austria - Hungary, in France, Belgium and with the the United States in its concessions under the name of his/her oldest daughter Mercedes.

Disappearance

1900 Gottlieb Daimler dies the March 6th with Stuttgart at the 64 years age. His/her son Paul Daimler succeeds to him until in 1922 before being replaced by the professor Ferdinand Porsche, inventor of the Volkswagen Coccinelle (with Paul Daimler) then founder of Porsche in 1948.

Mercedes Daimler

In 1907 Wilhelm Maybach resigns after being relegated direction to the inventive row of “as a chief” and founds successfully the mark of car Maybach Motorenbau: construction of engines of Airship for the count Ferdinand von Zeppelin and of the cars of Luxury.

The economic crisis of the Years 1920 led Emil Jellinek (Mr. Mercedes), Daimler Motoren Gesellschaft and Carl Benz of " Benz & Co " to put their joint interests in 1924 and to amalgamate in 1926 to become Mercedes-Benz, Industrial manufacturer German of Car S top-of-the-range and Truck S.

In 1909 Mercedes-Benz deposits like mark celebrates it star with three points, to represent the three ways that Gottlieb Daimler had chosen for its engines: Ground, Sea and Air, Emblem of all its cars starting from 1911.
