Gottfried von Straßburg

Gottfried von Straßburg (born with Strasbourg towards 1180 - towards 1215) was one of best the Poète S German of the Moyen-âge.

The dates of its birth and its death are unknown, but he was the contemporary of Walther von der Vogelweide, of Hartmann von Aue and Wolfram von Eschenbach, and its epic Tristan and Isold was written around the year 1210.

The history of Tristan had evolved/moved of its Celtic origins ( Tristan and Iseut ) shaded by the Trouvère S French of the 12th century, and had already succeeded in penetrating in Germany before the end of the century, in the rough and nonpolished version of Eilhart Oberge.
