Gollum

Gollum is a fictitious character of the novels of J.R.R. Tolkien, Bilbo the Hobbit and the Lord of the Rings.

Sméagol, old Gollum

Sméagol was a Fort, one of the three ethnos groups Hobbit are, which lived at the edge of the Anduin in the Champs with the Irises.

It is his/her cousin and friendly Déagol which found the Ring Single, the day of the birthday of Sméagol. This last initially required of him to offer it to him, but in front of the refusal of Déagol, it killed it to steal the magic ring to him. Thereafter, he will claim that it was its gift of birthday. Life of Gollum

Bilbon did not have whereas to jump over Gollum and to flee with the Ring.

Gollum curses it ( Voleur Sacquet. It forever is hated z' ) and launched out to his research.

Three times prisoner

He left the Misty Mounts to go towards Esgaroth on the Long Lake where he learned well quickly from which Bilbon came, the hero of Erebor and no one over there was not unaware of the name Comté. Gandalf questioned it first once, then let it set out again. And once more Sam and Frodon lost the trace of Gollum which reappeared only at the time when, with Sammath Naur, at the edge of the crack of the Mount Orodruin, Frodon proclaims main Anneau. It is there that Gollum fought for the last time for the Unique and at the moment when finally, after having sliced the finger of Frodon with its teeth, it held it in its hands, it made false-not and fell in the lava.

Thus finishes the Maître Ring, by the hand of that which longest kept it after Sauron and achieves the premonition of Gandalf:

“Because even the very wise ones cannot see all the ends. I do not have great hope of the cure of Gollum before his death, but there is a chance all the same. My heart says to me that it has still a role to play, in good or evil, before the end; and when this one arrives, the pity of Bilbon can determine the fate of much - to start with yours. ”
