Goldfields-hope
The area of Goldfields-Hope is one of the nine areas of the Western Australia
It is limited to the East by the southernmost Australia, to north by the areas of Mid West and Pilbara, to the west those of Great Southern and Wheatbelt and in the South by the Antarctic Ocean.
With its 771.276 km ², it is largest of the areas of Western Australia but its population is only of 59.000 inhabitants of which more half lives in the town of Kalgoorlie-Boulder, a quarter in the Comté of Hope and the remainder is scattered on all the area. It should be known that 10% of the population are of origin aboriginal.
The area is handicapped by two factors:
- seniority of the grounds dating from the Précambrien and which were never reorganized what gives grounds low in nutrients and rich in salt.
- the dryness with annual precipitations of 250 mm per annum on average, with one year important variations on the other with an exception in the county of Hope where the rains reach 630 mm per annum.
The economy of the area is based on mining industry with and gold mines Nickel and county of Hope on cereal agriculture and fishing.
