The 8 species of glaréoles constitute them glaréolidés (or Glareolidae ), one of the 2 glaréolidés subfamilies of , with the cursoriinés .

Systematic position

Traditionally, the glaréolidés are subdivided in 2 subfamilies, but in the classification of Sibley and Monroe, the cursoriinés and the glaréolinés is gathered, the dromadinés constituting the second subfamily.
