Gilles Guyot and negationnism in Lyon III

As from 2001, the position of Gilles Guyot as a President of the Université of Lyon III is disputed after its refusal to speak on the Institut of Indo-European Studies directed by Jean Haudry (also member of the “scientific committee” of the National front). This attitude with regard to the Institute of Indo-European studies had given place, in April 1998, with the occupation of the office of Gilles Guyot by about thirty students resulting from the Union from the Jewish students from France, trade union UNEF-ID and Hippocampe association which did not hesitate to qualify the Jean Moulin University of “ideological laboratory of the National front” and to invite the President of the University with “condemns the presence of an institute néo-Nazi inside the university Jean-Mill”.

The Institute however had been judged not-scientist by experts directed by Claude Allègre (then Ministre for State education) and had been criticized by the Commission on racism and the negationnism at the university Jean-Mill Lyon III created on November 15th, 2001 around the historian Henry Rousso for his orientation Racialiste. Gilles Guyot had been disputed before to have refused to engage of the disciplinary actions against Jean-Paul Allard, Germanist in Lyon III, near to the GREECE, member of the Institute of Indo-European studies and president, in 1985, of the Ph.D. examining board négationnsite constant in Nantes by Henri Roques (and cancelled the following year by the Ministry for research).

Continuations and procedures in progress

Gilles Guyot was condemned in first authority for Prise illegal of interests to 4 months of suspended sentence and: 10000 euros of fine in first authority to have engaged his/her sister at the Jean Moulin University.

He was also condemned by the Magistrates' court of Lyon to: 2000 euros of fines not to have respected, in 2002, the Code des Marches Publics being the expenses of reception which rose this year there with: 357000 euros. The law imposes that a Mise in competition for all the markets is carried out exceeding them: 90000 euros of budget. Gilles Guyot made call of these two judgments and will appear before the Court of Appeal of Lyon on January 30th, 2008.

At the request of Alain Morvan, Vice-chancellor of the Academy of Lyon and Chancelier of the Universities, the disciplinary section of the Board of directors of the University Jean Moulin Lyon 3 was seized by the faults “of attack to the honor and the probity of the civils servant” following the recruiting of his/her sister. The disciplinary section, chaired by Professor Debard, assisted professors Jean-Paul Joubert, Monique Brown, Hassan Sahloul, Alain Barrat, released Gilles Guyot on March 14th, 2007. The Morvan Vice-chancellor deposited, on March 21st, 2007, a request in suspiscion legitimates aiming at the members of the disciplinary formation of Lyon 3. This request was rejected with the reason which the decision of the disciplinary formation had been returned one week earlier. This one had not been notified to the Morvan vice-chancellor immediately.

Stephan Offal of the Association Hippocampus and Romain the Oilcan of UNEF met Mrs. Valerie Pécresse to ask him to intervene so that the vice-chancellor Debbasch, present during this maintenance, makes call of the decision of the disciplinary section. Gilles Guyot must from now on appear before his pars of the disciplinary formation of the CNESER.

Replaced during his procedures with the direction of the Institute of Administration of the Companies of Lyon, Gilles Guyot was re-elected on July 5th by 21 vote out of 22. For this new mandate, he intends to concentrate on the development of research and the professionalisation.
