Gigue (electronic)

In the field of the digital transmissions and more particularly of the connections series, the gigue ( jitter ) is the phenomenon of fluctuation of a signal. This fluctuation can be a slip of phase or a temporal dispersion. It involves errors at exit during the recovery of the data.

The standards télécoms, as the standard SONNET, specified criteria so that a system can function. These limits are based on the field of frequencies with the spectra of the gigue. One defines specifications in it:

of tolerance of gigue (Jitter Tolerance).
of transfer of gigue (Jitter Transfer).
of creation of gigue (Jitter Generation).
