Gibson NightHawk
The Gibson Nighthawk was a range of electric guitars, built by Gibson. Nighthawk was a radical evolution of Gibsons traditional Because it had characteristics resembling those of the guitars Fender. Nighthawk resembles superficially the the Paul, the well-known guitar of Gibson. The face was in maple and the body in Acajou.
Models
The Nighthawk range consisted of three regular models and two special editions.Regular models
- the Nighthawk Custom had a maple " face; flame" decorated. The choice of color was " antique natural" , " fireburst" , or " translucent amber".
-
the Standard Nighthawk , whose choice of colors was " fireburst" , " translucent amber" , or " vintage sunburst".
-
the Nighthawk Special had same the characteristics as the Standard and Custom, except the model was without ornaments, for a more reduced budget. The price of Nighthawk Special was about two hundred dollars of less than one Nighthawk Standard. The choices of colors were " ebony" , " heritage cherry" , and " vintage sunburst".
Edition Special
- the Landmark Series was a more advanced model of Nighthawk. It carried two Mr.-Series Minis-humbucker instead of usual the Mr.-series minis-humbucker + Mr.-Series Slanted humbucker.
-
the Hawk was an inexpensive alternative to Nighthawk. It carried traditional the alnico humbuckers instead of the Mr.-series of Nighthawk, and was simpler than the Special one.
Microphones and buttons
There were two alternatives starting from Nighthawk Custom, Standard, and Special. the normal version with two microphones, or the version with three microphones which added a microphone NSX Single Coil (with simple winding) in the middle of the two others. The version with two microphones had only five tonal varieties on the whole, whereas the version with three microphones had 10 of them, thanks to the revolutionist button of tonality to push/draw. When the button of tonality is inserted, the humbuckers function normally, on the other hand when it is drawn upwards, the humbuckers are divided into simple windings, to give a sound resembling more the guitars Fender.
Similarities with the Fender guitars
Gibson Nighthawk was very similar to the Fender guitars for a variety of reasons. The slanted humbuckers had less profit and had has bright, sharp ton similar to that associated with Telecasters and Stratocasters. The neck pickup (minis-humbucker) had has louder ton which was mellower and warmer than the bright bridge pickup, which is similar the neck pickup in Stratocaster. The middle pickup one summons Nighthawk models were almost identical to the middle individual-coil off the Stratocasters and sounded similar. The very small body and through-body stringing system bridge is similar to the system used one Telecasters. Summon models off the Custom used has Floyd Pink locking vibrato links instead off has traditional Gibson Vibrola gold Bigsby. The Floyd Pink has nap similarity to the tremor system used by Fender Stratocasters, although Stratocasters C not normally uses locking vibrato systems. Unlike Gibson' S 24 3/4" scale, the Nighthawk had has 25 1/2" scale, which is found one most Fender guitars like the Stratocaster.
