Ghézo
Ghézo , is traditionally the tenth of the twelve kings of the Dahomey. It reigned of 1818 with 1858.
Ghézo reorganizes its kingdom, restores civil peace, constitutes a powerful and well trained army, famous for its body of amazones. It attacks the Yoruba and is released from the tribute due to the State of Oyo. It captures many African to sell them on the coast but introduced new cultures to replace the trade of the treaty which it feels threatened.
The “Brazilian” tradesman Francisco Felix de Souza, known as Chacha, takes part in the takeover of Ghézo after being itself enriched by the treaty on the coast by the Esclave S since 1788. He becomes one of the most powerful dignitaries of the kingdom of Abomey and with its death in 1858 its sons inherit its load.
