Gerhard von Scharnhorst

Gerhard Johann David von Scharnhorst (November 12th 1755 - June 28th 1813) was a Prussian general .

Chief of the Staff Prussia at the time of the countryside of 1806 against Napoleon, it is known for his writings, his reform of the Prussia army and his command during the Napoleonean Guerres.

He made the artillery School then became artillery instructor. He created a newspaper and at the same time approaches Prussia as from 1801 militarily. He is with dimensions of the Duke of Brunswick when he occupied Hanover in 1805.

After the defeat against Napoleon, it undertaken a military reorganization of Prussia, in company of Gneisenau and Boyen. Its principal innovation was the system of Krumper, making it possible to turn the limitations as men imposed by Napoleon. In 1813, one could measure the extent of completed work, but Scharnhorst, attached as Head of State major to Felldgeneral von Blücher, was mortally wounded there this year.
