Gerard Gouic

Gerard Gouic was born the June 11th 1936 with Rédéné (in Breton Cornwall). It shares its childhood between Paris (where it meets the poet Maurice Fombeure as professor with the Lavoisier college) and Brittany.

At the time of its military service in Algeria, it binds friendship with the poet max Alhau and the painter Jacques Rouquier.

From 1960 to 1969, he lives in Africa. Its activities in the trade will lead it to Extremely-Lamy with the Chad - where it will meet Henri Queffelec, of passage, with which it will bind friendship -, to Point-Black with the Congo, to Douala with the Cameroun and to Bangui in Central African Republic. It regularly returns to spend its holidays to Brittany.

With its final return in Brittany in 1969, it will be occupied, during thirty years, of a souvenir shop to Quimper. The sign which it chooses, “Telen Arvor” (“the Toothing-stone of Armor”) is the title of a collection of the poet Auguste Brizeux and will be also the name which it will choose for his own publisher.
