Georges-Alexandre Sarrejani

Georges-Alexandre Sarrejani known as Sarret (September 23rd 1878 - April 10th 1934), was a lawyer of businesses, but also a Escroc and a assassin. He will be guillotine with Aix-en-Provence, on April 10th, 1934.

Biography

Born with Trieste in Italy, on September 23rd, 1878, he immigrates in France during his adolescence. He makes brilliant studies of right and becomes one of business lawyers more for Marseilles. Having installed its law firm with 45, rue de la Palud in Marseilles, he lives with his wife and his children in a rich person apartment not far from there. But they are only appearances of standing: Me Sarret very carries out a life dissolue, festivals, plays, of alcohol and women of passage.

Swindle and murder

In the Years 1920, it becomes acquainted with two German sisters, culottières, Catherine and Philomène Schmidt. It allures them well quickly, and they become both its mistresses. All was held well but the August 20th 1925, Sarret kills with the shotgun a too greedy accomplice, the abbot défroqué Chambon-Duverger, and its mistress, Noémie Ballandraux. Banal crime, except by a thing: the disappearance of the bodies. After the double murder, Sarret bought hundred liters of vitriol (i.e. of Acid sulphuric) and poured all the acid in a bath-tub containing the two bodies already. At the end of three days of dissolution, it was with the Schmidt sisters to throw the repugnant adhesive and noirâtre in grass. The crime remained unknown during six years.

In 1931, the three accomplices will launch a new swindle to the life insurance, while making accept the death of Catherine Schmidt, and in him substituent the body of a woman tubercular patient coldly deceased. Catherine takes refuge in Nice, but become acquainted there with an young man with which it falls in love and which it follows to Marseilles, without reflecting. Somebody notices in the died street the alleged one, and from there will inform the authorities.

Stopped, the sisters denounce Sarret. But the man is malignant. With all its talent of legal consultant, it will make, two years during, to delay the lawsuit, by noticing the errors and other defects. Nevertheless, justice will end up slicing, in all the directions of the term, the October 31st 1933, with sat Rhone delta. Sworn, impressed by the dreadful method of dissimulation, showed severity. The Schmidt sisters are condemned each one to 10 years of reclusion. The legal consultant is condemned to death.

April 10th, 1934, Georges-Alexandre Sarrejani will be guillotine as a public at the entry of the prison of Aix-en-Provence. It was the last capital execution which took place in Aix.

The Sarret business was told by Solange Fasquelle in the book “ the infernal trio ”, which was adapted to the cinema in 1974 by Francis Girod, with Michel Piccoli in the role of Sarret and Romy Schneider in the role of Philomène Schmidt.
