George Calvert

George Calvert, 1er baron Baltimore , born in 1582 in the county of York, died in 1632.

It occupied of high employment under Jacques Ier of England and became member of the private council, then minister of state (1619). Having embraced Catholicism, it dislocated its loads (1624), and went to form an establishment with Newfoundland under Jacques I. Obliged to give up it because of the incursions of the French, it obtained Charles Ier of England the concession of grounds located at the North of the Virginia, which form the Maryland today. His/her son is Leonard Calvert.
