The Geological Society off London ( geological Company of London ) is a Learned society whose seat is with the the United Kingdom and the purpose of who is to study the mineral structure of the Earth. It is the oldest company of geology of the world.

The company, partially based on the company Askesian , is founded in 1807. Among his founding members one finds, inter alia, William Babington, Humphry Davy and George Greenough. It receives its royal charter in 1805 of Georges IV.

In 1831 it institutes an annual reward, the Médaille Wollaston which remains in 2006 the most important price decreed by this company.

Since 1874 its seat has Burlington House, Piccadilly, London. It is member of the Science Council founded in 2000.

The Geological Society off London prepares the celebration of its bicentenary in 2007 pennies the presidency of Richard Fortey.
