Geography of Romania
Covering a large elliptic surface of: 237499 square kilometers, the Romania is with the 79e world place and the 12th European one by its surface. Located at the North-East of the Balkans, it occupies most of the lower basin of the the Danube and the mountainous regions of the average basin of the same river. The country is spread out over the two slopes of the Carpates, which form the natural barrier between the two basins of the Danube.
Climate
The position of Romania confers a continental Climat to him, in particular in Valachie and Moldavie, and to a lesser extent in Transylvania, where the climate is more moderate. Long and sometimes severe winters (of December to at the beginning of March), hot summers (June - at the beginning of September), and a prolonged autumn (September at November) are the principal seasons, with a fast transition between spring and the summer. With Bucharest, the minimal temperature in January is generally of -5°C, and the maximum temperature in July is of 29°C.

Located at the south-east of the Europe, Romania has borders with (clockwise) the Bulgaria in the south, the Serbia in south-west, the Hungary in the west, the Ukraine in north, the Moldavie in the North-East, again the Ukraine in the North-East and opening on the Black Sea in the east.

Ground: the Transylvanian central basin is separated from the plain of Moldavie in the east by the Carpates and from the plain of Valachie in the south by the Alps of Transylvania.
